Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy for pain, injury and everything in between.
Physiotherapy at Northwell is for anyone whose body is stopping them doing what they want to do: back and neck pain, joint problems, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, persistent pain and the aches that come from long days at a desk. You do not need a referral, and you do not need a diagnosis before you arrive.
What to expect
A thorough first appointment, then a clear plan.
Your first appointment lasts up to an hour. Your physiotherapist will listen to your history, examine how you move and explain what they think is going on in plain language. Treatment usually begins in the same session and may include hands-on therapy, guided exercise, movement retraining and advice on managing the problem between visits.
Follow-up appointments are thirty minutes and are spaced to suit your progress. Most people need between three and six sessions, and you will always know how many we expect and why.

Frequently asked questions
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing that lets your physiotherapist see and move the area being treated. Shorts for lower-limb problems and a vest or strappy top for shoulders and necks are ideal.
Will treatment hurt?
Some techniques can be uncomfortable for a moment, but treatment should never be painful. Your physiotherapist will check in with you throughout and adjust anything that does not feel right.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with Northwell without a referral. If you are claiming through private medical insurance, check whether your insurer requires a GP referral before your first appointment.
How do I pay?
You can pay by card at the clinic or online when you book. We are recognised by most major private medical insurers; let us know your policy details when you book and we will guide you through the process.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or move an appointment. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged at the full session rate.
